“It is only when the awareness of the self as the I being in harmony with the universe subsides of its own that silence comes to life. Til then, there may be quietness, there may be peacefulness, but there is no silence. So the spontaneous cessation of movement on the part of the conditioned human psyche as well as the unconditioned human psyche is the content of silence. The individual is then no longer an entity that is separate from the rest of life, any more than a cloud which floats in the sky is. The cloud has a shape. It has a form, but not a center, nor an identity. So too, the human being in the dimension of silence may have a form, a shape, a body consisting of flesh and bones and nerves and blood; and yet there is no entity in the sense that there is no center…… There is no center. The individual then is like a bubble on the waters of a river or lake or an ocean. The bubble contains water, is born in water, is made of water, and subsides into water. So the form of such an individual contains that non-dualistic silence, that centerless silence, and when the form subsides, you call it death. The silence, the non-duality, becomes again an organic part of the universal: silence and nonduality.”Vimala Thakar

“The truth has to be lived in the movement of relationship, it can’t be lived in physical isolation. It can be appreciated, it can be talked about, but that’s not life. To live is to be related and when that truth is allowed to express itself without fear, without ambition, without the desire to assert and dominate, when the truth is allowed to flow in that movement of relationship, then there is the fulfillment that you call enlightenment. It is the consummation. It is easy to perceive the truth, it is very difficult to allow it to consummate in your life. It’s like an unconsummated marriage.”Vimala Thakar
